Maple class links with Finland
Year 3 children enjoy Global Links
The latest project for Maple class has reinforced their appreciation of this wonderfully diverse school. Mr Woodings from Dunkirk Primary School, England and Mr Harri Kauppinen from Rastaala School, Finland, developed the idea of linking our two schools through practical 'hands on' projects. The latest involving Rastaala School designing and preparing the components of a wooden napkin holder for every member of Maple class. These then needed finishing with sandpaper to expose the beautiful grain and to soften the edges. The pieces were then assembled using hammer and nails in a safe and controlled manner. Finally they were decorated with flags of the UK, Finland and those representing the countries of this diverse class. Sources of information were found on the ipads and shared between each member of the class. Factors were compared such as population size and annual climate graphs. It was a great project to be involved in and many thanks go to Mr Harri Kauppinen. Take a look at the short films and photo gallery to see the wonderful collaboration.
