Picasso Blue Period
This half term, we have been learning about the Picasso Blue Period, where Picasso painted all his pictures in the colour blue. The children looked at lots of different pictures and discussed how the pictures made them feel and how they felt the people in the pictures looked. The discussions that they had were amazing and they said that the pictures "looked cold" because they reminded them of "ice and winter." They said that the people in them "looked cold, sad, hungry and lonely."
We showed them a picture that had a blue man with a brown guitar and posed the question... "Why does the man love his guitar?" The children again discussed this and produced this fantastic answer, "because the guitar is not blue, it makes him feel warm and happy."
The children were then asked to produce their own version of "Mr Speed's Blue Guitar" using just blue, grey, black and white and the results were just super! They have made a stunning display. We are so proud of what the children have produced and achieved. Mr Brooks, Assistant Head Teacher, has been to see them and he thinks they are just brilliant!
