Strong Structures-Engineers of the future!

Key elements for a team challenge...

Can the children of Wisteria class work as a team to build structures to support a heavy weight? This was the challenge given to the children, to keep 'Hot Dog' off the dirty ground using only six sticks and a metre of string and some ingenuity.

The gallery shows how the children were allocated teams and had to cooperate to find a way of making a strong structure. A great time was had by all.

Skills developed:

1.Communication needs listening skills as well as the ability to talk.

2. Structures need to be planned and 'triangles' can give great strength to a structure

3. Knots are essential and need to be learned. Here we used two half hitches.
