Dunkirk Primary School

Our outdoor classroom

Apple class have been practising how to put their waterproofs on independently ready for our outdoor classroom!

Being an outdoor school, we use our outdoor classroom daily in any weather! Our motto is ‘there is no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing!’ Today we practised putting our waterproofs on independently. Independence is a great life skill which we promote in Apple class from day one.

Once our waterproofs were on, we went outside and explored the environment. The children loved experimenting with the water fountain – filling buckets and seeing what happened when they poured it on the sand area as well as creating role-play with the water by ‘growing their own bean stalks’ which helped build their confidence when using their speech and language. We also brought the big chalks outside to draw large pictures upon the ground. This was brilliant for our large motor skills! We had great fun in the sunshine and most of all it was brilliant to see lots of friendships being made within this new class.
