Languages Day

This event will take place on 15/01/2018

In order to share and celebrate the diverse languages spoken by the children, parents and local community we will be holding our annual Languages Day on Monday 15th January.

Over the past few years parents and carers have come in to classes and taught the children some of their home language. The children always enjoy the day and it is a great opportunity for them to share any other languages that they speak with their classmates.

To build on the success of previous years we would like to invite any parents / carers to come into school this year and share their language with the class. Last year some parents chose to teach greetings such as ‘hello’, ‘how are you?’ and ‘goodbye’. Other parents introduced numbers or colours or shared a story, song or poem in their home language. Some pupils even made their own presentations and mini lessons and helped their parent to teach their classmates.

If you could spare some time on the day please let us know. The class teacher will be in class at all times and we are available to provide help and ideas. If you would like to come and share your language with the children, please speak to your child’s class teacher.  If you are happy to visit another class too that’s great!

Thanks in advance for your support.

Kind regards,
