Warm up: Quick fire questions when multiplying decimal numbers by 10, 100, 1000 or 10000.

I was unable to upload the video clip (sorry) so time how long it takes you to SAY the answers to ALL these questions:

Round 1: 48.33 x 10       27.04 x 10       70.4 x 10         3.09 x 10          1.4 x 10         1000.1 x 10

Question: What happens to each digit when it is multiplied by 10?

 

Round 2:  90.0 x 100      10.8 x 100       11.10 x 100     2.11 x 100        47.1 x 100     2.10 x 100

Question: What happens to each digit when it is multiplied by 100?

 

Round 3:  3.452 x 1000       199.6 x 1000      0.15 x 1000       1.23 x 1000        3.06 x 1000

Question: What happens to each digit when it is multiplied by 1000?

 

Round 4:  19.6 x 10000         123.6 x 10000        0.3 x 10000      34.52 x 10000     0.55 x 10000

Question: What happens to each digit when it is multiplied by 10000?
