We can draw like Stephen Wiltshire!

Our Year 1 class is named after the amazingly talented artist, Stephen Wiltshire, and we have been learning how to draw just like him!

Stephen Wiltshire is an artist and an autistic savant. This Autumn term we learnt about his experience in school and how he found listening and concentrating in class very difficult, but he was amazing at drawing. One teacher in particular, noticed that Stephen could draw buildings without looking at them, he just needed to remember what they looked like!

Stephen's artwork has been inspirational to the children. We went on a walk around the school campus, noticing buildings and architectural features. We then returned to the classroom and created our own drawings, using fine line pens. There were no photographs to look at, everything the children drew all came from their heads and the things they could remember seeing that day.
