Don't be a litter bug!

Here in Maple Class, we’re passionate about protecting our planet. This term, we’ve been learning all about pollution, and we were shocked to discover the impact that land pollution is having our environment.
Determined to make a difference, we set out on a litter hunt around Lenton to see what rubbish we could spot in our local area. Sadly, we found lots of wrappers, cans and so many bottles! Did you know that in the UK, more than 700,000 bottles are dropped every single day? If you were to line them up, they’d stretch for over 90 miles!
After our litter walk, we came together to think about what we could do to help reduce littering around our school and community. We decided that posters would be a great way to get people’s attention and spread the message. We designed eye-catching, colourful posters that were full of information and snappy catchphrases.
Alongside our posters, we wrote some letters to the people who live nearby explaining that we spotted lots of litter on our litter walk and that litter has a big impact on our planet. We kindly asked them not to litter and wrote these letters using our neatest handwriting.
