Historical Toys
Year 1 have been learning about toys from olden times.
For our focus on History Year 1, we have been learning all about toys from the past and the materials they were made from. We have played with toys from around 20 years ago, since these toys once belonged to Mrs Bowen's grown-up children. The highlight of this topic was going on a trip to Sudbury Hall and seeing some wonderful examples of old toys from different periods of time, including an ancient ceramic ball that was more than 3000 years old!
The children thoroughly enjoyed the day and on return to school we wrote about our experience and, of course, it gave us a lot to talk about for many days after!
Exploring the different spaces in the hall was quite magical. Especially when we needed to actually lie down and look up to the ceiling to see a bedroom set up to reflect different periods of time!
We even had fun playing outside in the fantastic grounds of Sudbury Hall.
Finally, we can back into the modern world and played with toys all about Space!
